Frequently Asked Questions

  • You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clearly defined problem to start therapy. Many people come in because something feels off, repetitive, or harder than it needs to be. If you’re curious about understanding yourself or your relationships more deeply, therapy can be a useful place to begin.

  • The first session is a chance to get oriented. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have about the process. There’s no expectation to share everything at once! Therapy moves at a pace that feels manageable.

  • My work is collaborative, relational, and growth-driven. Rather than following a rigid formula, sessions are shaped around your goals and what feels most relevant in your life. The focus is on understanding patterns, building insight, and creating space for change without pressure or judgment.

  • No! When I started going to therapy I wasn’t sure what I was looking to get. Some people come in with a clear focus, while others arrive knowing something isn’t working but aren’t sure how to name it yet. Part of the work can be figuring that out together.

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some people attend therapy for a shorter period around a specific concern, while others choose to work longer-term. We check in along the way and adjust based on your needs and goals.

  • Yes. Therapy is confidential within the limits required by law and professional standards. These limits (such as risk of harm to yourself or others) will be reviewed so you know exactly what confidentiality means before we begin. I understand how living in a small town means extra sensitivity around privacy (I see a therapist in-town too!).
